My favorite subjects are history, the sciences and English. I actually did not like math for quite some time as a child but I have learned to love it and I would like to help any of my clients LOVE the subject I tutor them in. I enjoying singing and have done so since I was in 3rd grade. I also enjoy dancing - specifically ballet and lyrical. I love reading and have an extensive collection of books that I cherish.

As an MS and PhD graduate student, I have experience teaching, tutoring, and mentoring college undergraduates and postgraduates in most disciplines of biology. As the oldest child of a large family, I am also very good at working with elementary, middle school, and high school students. At these levels, I am capable of assisting most subjects, but primarily sciences and mathematics.

I use an informal style so that the student can feel comfortable asking questions, hopefully relating personally to the students so that they can actually have fun and look forward to tutoring. I tutor standardized tests and most high school classes. .

I like to take away the serious and abstract nature of the material, and make it relevant to your personal interests. This has worked very well - some of my students even made me cookies*! I strongly believe that anyone can be good at math and science, and during my time as a tutor, I have proved myself right on several occasions. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, irritating my girlfriend with my guitar playing, reading just about anything, and practising some sweet Taekwondo moves. *Payment of cookies is not necessary or expected.

During my undergraduate years, I was involved in the founding and management of a program tutoring youth who had classroom troubles or learning disabilities such as dyslexia and ADD. My friendly personality, quick-critical thinking skills and ability to adapt to various learning styles allow me to create innovative ways for the student to learn the information without being overwhelmed. I can break down complex concepts so that they can be pieced together and understood, not just memorized. I also did work with my fellow undergraduate peers at the time.

When I was a high school senior, I was accepted into 8 Ivy League universities, as well as Stanford and MIT. I truly appreciate and enjoy helping students of all ages achieve their college admissions goals! Outside of teaching and tutoring, I love to run and explore the city of Houston. As an instructor at a high-performing charter school, I certainly don't have a ton of spare time, but I enjoy a work hard/play hard approach to life! .

I had an internship doing ABA therapy with individuals who have ADHD, learning disabilities, and autism. ABA is a highly respected teaching method that can be applied to all students because it focuses on breaking learning down into small increments and tailoring goals to maximize one's innate abilities. My experience working with individuals with disabilities has made me an empathic teacher who works with students strengths to find the best method to learn new material. I look forward to meeting your student, making goals for their education and working together to achieve them. I love to learn and work to inspire the same passion in others..

Five years at the UT has taught me how to take in complicated information, process it and teach it to fellow students. In a more professional atmosphere, I have helped students achieve their academic goals through tutoring on a high school level. That being said, there is a certain thrill that I have when I see someone comprehend a subject that was previously foreign to them. I have seen the look regarding subjects from an elementary level to a collegiate level.

I then attended graduate school at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. While in graduate school, I was a TA and helped several undergrads in biology. I have found that several students have the potential to do well in school. The problems they face can be due to a variety of reasons, and one-on-one tutoring is a great way to help students figure out what those problems are and find out how to master the material. Aside from my math and science interests, I enjoy hanging out with family/friends, reading, movies, traveling, and I'm down for trying almost anything.

I have tutored informally in high school (mostly in math and English), and I even worked at an after school tutoring center. I also assisted and tutored my fellow peers during my undergraduate years. Some of my more unique experiences include tutoring and teaching internationally. When I was in high school, I implemented and directed a phonics and geography workshop in a rural village in southern India for students between the ages of 4 and 18.
