Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This session was a productive one. This material was on circular motion. First, we looked through the class notes, which covered concepts such as how much an object rotates, angular speed, angular acceleration, etc. Then we looked at examples that involved calculating the rotational speed or linear speed of a rotating object (such as a spinning disk). We also looked at conceptual example and problems in this area such as what happens to the linear speed of a lady bug if you increase the rotational speed of a turntable twice as much."
"We spent the majority of the session going over concepts for the student's test on 3/25, which is focused on the mole. We reviewed several Empirical and Molecular Formula problems in his unit packet, which will be collected for extra credit. He also got back his last two tests for correction, but we didn't have time to go over them. Next session we will work on reviewing his most recent test corrections, as well as going over his midterm review packet, in order to address as many issues as he has before his midterm on Friday. He has been assigned only to finish the review packet for our session Thursday, which is probably more work than he has time to finish. After his midterm, he will be asked to finish what ever test corrections we do not finish, and to make sure everything is in the format specified by his teacher."
"We worked on AP Chemistry: Lewis Dot Structure, Steric Number, VSEPR, formal charges, bonding, molecular geometry, molecular shapes, lattice energy, and hybridization."
"We went over the student's worksheets pertaining to gas laws, what affects concentrations, equilibrium, and how to decide which way a reaction will shift."
"We reviewed for an exam covering thermodynamics, entropy, enthalpy, free energy, heat and work, probability, etc."
"The student and I continued our practice for her upcoming midterm. She completed her end of chapter practice quizzes for Chapters 3 and 4. We broke down each concept from these areas that will be seen on her test and also did many other example practice problems. Next, we went through the midterm review and discussed each bolded term or key concept until our session ended. I will meet with her again this weekend."
