Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Lesson 9.6 : Solve quadratic equations by factoring when leading coefficient is 1. I taught him the diamond method to make procedural steps easy. He grasped it pretty well. Lesson 9.7 : Solve one step equations using square root. He did really great in this lesson and understands really well that negative numbers do not have real square-roots. Lesson 9.8 : Solve quadratic equations by completing squares. He is going to have a quiz on these topics tomorrow in class, and we are hoping for the best."
"The student has improved quite a bit since last week even! He appears to have a better understanding of algebraic concepts and knows how to approach solving problems. Right now we are working on proper order of operations and keeping track of (-) and (+) signs when problem solving. We addressed these today and will further practice in the next session."
"The student got his quizzes back, and he got A's on them! Today we reviewed for his test on Thursday, which will test on solving inequalities. We worked on several problems on the review sheet to make sure he knew all the concepts. We also decided to make up a 'cheat sheet' where he had to write down the main concepts and certain details he should remember before his test. This was a good exercise to organize all the material for this test, as well as create a condensed sheet to quickly look over concepts before his test. He also worked on word problems and made sure that he would do well on those problems. I have a great feeling about this test!"
"We worked on more standardized practice problems. He is still having problems solving algebraic expressions, so we worked on that as well. I am sending him some practice problems to work on as well."
"We worked on solving systems of linear equations by substituting and elimination. We worked on example problems and workbook problems. We also talked about coin problems and consecutive integer problems. We'll continue working on that next time."
"The student and I finished working through her work book. There were just a couple of problems from the final section that I told her we would work through the next session. She will go over the entire book again on her own, and we will address any problems that she had issues with at our next session next week. I feel like she is doing remarkably well and that she could potentially take the test some time in May."
