Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We discussed the student's fourth project of the semester. We created histograms for two data sets he collected and discussed the SOCS (shape, outliers, center, and spread). He definitely understands much of the material."
"We covered: further review of specific class example problem concerning manual generation of ANOVA test comparison for low quantity sample statistics."
"The session focused on probability theory. In particular, conditional probability was an area of focus."
"He is currently working on area and volume integrals with curves and particle motion which we covered today. We plan on covering tables and graphs to answer similar questions on Wednesday for a test he has Thursday."
"This was a review session for their upcoming exam on Monday. With student 1, we first reviewed a quiz she had not done so well on. The quiz covered compound and simple interest problems using tables and having to find "new balances" as well as "interest." We discussed each one and she corrected all the problems she got wrong originally. Next, we spent the last 10 minutes of her session reviewing any homework problems she had trouble with to prepare for her exam. With student 2, we spent most of the session reviewing probability (independent, dependent, mutually inclusive & exclusive) as part of her homework. She will do this homework on her own time. Both girls feel confident they will do well on their upcoming exam on simple/compound interest."
"Today we worked on another free response packet. She is having trouble knowing how to approach these problems, since they require drawing from everything she has learned in class. She has shown improvement in remembering how to estimate a derivative when given a table of values, and she was able to recall most of how to show that a function is continuous. She could use more work on the definition of integrals and how to find them using geometric methods."
