Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I met today to have a review session for her upcoming test on Wednesday. Specifically, we reviewed the Present Perfect and Indirect Object Pronouns. We spent most of the time doing practice sets and solidifying her understanding of the use of both of these topics. We also reviewed the irregular forms of the present perfect. I highlighted several things that she should focus on in terms of her studying -- I believe if she does so, and applies herself to practicing the verb forms and the vocabulary at hand, that she will do very well on her upcoming test."
"The student has another oral test coming up, this time looking at a map and giving directions from one place to another. We practiced on the three maps he will possibly be tested on; I asked him how to arrive at one place from another, and he answered, using the vocabulary words from the chapter and giving commands. Overall, he did very well; his grammar was sound and he knew how to put the directions into coherent sentences with minimal coaching. He did struggle a little with the pronunciation of some words; I recommended that, during his study time, he record himself and then listen to fix pronunciation mistakes. I also recommended that he practice with the maps a great deal on his own, to get comfortable with the places so that he can focus on the smaller details of pronunciation, which tend to slip when he is focusing on the bigger picture. At the end of the session, he said that he was feeling a lot more confident about the upcoming test."
"We covered past participles and the present perfect tense. The student got the concept fairly quick and was excited to play the activities. We played battleship and did his Spanish exercises. I used my dry-erase board and he took notes. I did not leave him with any extra practice. The student is doing well and I do not have any concerns."
