Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I covered with the student identifying different kinds of triangles, different kinds of angles, calculating angles based on the exterior, interior opposite theorem, and calculating vertical, alternate, and corresponding angles. I also reviewed with her a geometry homework package."
"We reviewed homework problems in preparation for a quiz. We also discussed questions that he had recorded since our last session. We worked on perimeters of various shapes, volumes of cylinders, the relationship between radius and diameter of a circle and how it affects circumference and area."
"The student and I spent the entire time working through a practice test to prepare for her math quiz. We worked through a variety of different set ups and how to solve them, and then I had her work through each step of the problem separately. I also talked to her on test taking strategy, including breaking down a problem, taking her time, and not changing her answer. By the end of the session she seemed much more confident and was excited to take the quiz."
"The student continues to make progress. I'm continually reinforcing all methods to help him answer questions-using the calculator, using answer choices, etc. Today we looked at roots and exponents and did some practice from a practice test. He seems to be a little more at ease with the information."
"This was a review for the student's final. She had a packet that her teacher gave her so we spent all our time on that. We reviewed definitions and theorems involving triangles, parallel lines, and polygons. It had been a while since she had worked with these topics but she remembered them quickly. She seemed very confident by the end."
"The student and I met for the final time and were able to get through an entire review packet on geometry. He knows all of the concepts, but he tends to make minor mistakes on his way to the answer. We discussed how to check his work and minimize the chance that he makes an error."
