Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered parametric equations, present value of investments and geometric series and their sums. The most difficult thing we worked on was present value of investments. We will also review more on half and double angle identities."
"The student and I went through some of the problems on a recent worksheet. Her teacher assigned review problems, and we used them to revisit some of the main concepts from our previous sessions. Primarily, we worked on law of cosines and law of sines, vectors, and vs rectangular coordinates. She earned a B on her previous exam."
"Today we worked through practice problems from sections 7. 1 & 7.2: discussing solving systems of equations, addition and scalar multiplication of matrices, matrix multiplication, and showing that two matrices are inverses of each other."
"The student needed to study for her Trigonometry quiz in Precalculus, so we spent the session going over her previous homework problems and doing additional practice problems similar to what she expected on the quiz. We covered the Unit Circle in both Radians and Degrees, the properties of Trigonometric functions, and calculating exact values of Trigonometric functions without a calculator. Her understanding of the Trig topics was strong to begin with, but she benefited from the extra practice with me and the discussion of the topic that we had over the course of the session. She will contact me again when she wants to schedule another tutoring session; she stated that she plans to have the sessions mostly before her tests and quizzes to help her review."
"The student needed major assistance with precalculus this week, as her teacher dropped a lot of new information on them after their week off. She was set to have a test the day after this session, and she needed help with the derivation of several trigonometric formulas involving addition/ subtraction of two angles, half-angle formulas, and double-angle formulas. The derivations were fairly easy, as she already knew a lot of what went into them; she just needed some help understanding why she was doing what she was doing. Once I cleared that up for her things became much easier."
"The student and I worked on his discussion based assessments for Module 5 and began reviewing for the semester exam. He remembers most of the algebra-type components of the course, but still needs work on the trigonometry."
