Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The students and I worked on grouping games. They both read the chapter on such games in the LSAT prep book as planned. We then worked through the two grouping games questions on the practice LSAT they took. They understand the general framework of how to approach grouping games and are now more comfortable than they were before handling these games. We will continue to practice these problems so they can improve the speed at which they work through each of the multiple steps required to answer grouping game questions. For the next meeting, we will review logical reasoning sections by looking at the practice LSAT. I have asked that they keep reading and working through the remaining chapters of the LSAT prep book. These sections talk about certain helpful techniques and strategies to be used in the logic game section and handling certain more rare game types."
"The student got 6 correct answers on the logic games section (13 correct outside of the 35 minute time constraints). We worked through one full logic game and the setup for a second one. We then discussed strategies for reading comprehension, read through one passage, and worked through the questions for the passage. The student will continue working on carefully reading passages and setups and being sure she is accurately applying logic game rules."
"Today's session was the first in several weeks. SAT scores just came out yesterday. We discussed in detail how the test went, the testing environment, proctor, etc. She noted that she had a hard time with timing particularly in the logic games section. She said she actually ran out of time in each section, which indicates that she hadn't been timing herself enough on practice tests (and there could've been some text anxiety as well). We discussed how much practice she'll need to do for significant improvement on the next test."
