"In this session I worked with the student to prepare for a presentation she has tomorrow. In the presentation, she has to bring in photos and describe aspects of her childhood such as what her personality was like, activities she liked, etc. The presentation includes the use of the imperfect ("I used to" or describing aspects of the past that are no longer current such as "I was") and also uses vocabulary describing personality traits such as "sociable". Initially in the session she was dependent on reading lines from but by the end of the session she felt much more comfortable with what she was going to say. I recommended that practice her speech from start-to-finish a few more times so that she could feel more comfortable with it."
"The student didn't have homework this week, so we reviewed material from last week as well as some new vocabulary. She still seems to be struggling a bit with conjugations, so we reviewed several irregular verbs in the past tense form. Later, we did some review of direct and indirect object pronouns. We also did a listening/vocabulary activity where I described vocabulary words in Spanish (and using pictures), and she had to tell me the word in English. Similar to previous weeks, I encourage her to review verb conjugations and use flashcards for vocabulary."
"Today we worked on the imperfect vs the preterite. We did some exercises from the book to practice writing and selecting the appropriate verb conjugation. We also did some talking exercises from the book. We wrote out our conjugation for the different verb types. We spent about 30 minutes talking and using the imperfect and preterite tenses."
