"The student and I went over algebra, algebra word problems, greatest common factors, and prime factorizations. He has improved with his regular algebra problems. He had trouble with the word problems so I will be assigning him more word problems for our next meeting. He also struggled with GCF and prime factorizations, although I taught it to him last week. Once I re-taught it to him, he got each problem correct."
"Having already worked on the math section in our first section, I wanted to make sure that the student completed diagnostics on the other two sections. First, I gave him a half hour writing test, which he scored 90% on. There were a few grammar issues that required brushing up, but other than that he seems to have a good grasp of all of the writing concepts. He struggled a bit more with the 50 minute reading comprehension test, which took him over an hour to complete. We looked over his errors and found that he struggles most with finding the tone and overall themes of passages. We are meeting again and should be able to iron out some of these difficulties, while also progressing to the essay portion."
"The student and I continued our work on the math section. We covered material dealing with how to identify changes in related linear equation, in which changes to a slope have been made through visual representations (identifying if the sign of the slope is different and what are the intercepts). One of the things I am noticing is that he has a tendency to overwork problems in the easier stages of the exam. He erects proportions and added equations that are not part of the question, because he is certain there is more to the problem. This means he needs to practice abstract reasoning of learning what the question is asking of him."
