Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed homework that covered finding side lengths of triangles using 30/60/90 and 45/45/90 triangle rules. We also reviewed homework that covered simplifying algebraic expressions using exponent rules."
"We looked over and corrected problems the student missed on her last exam. The material dealt with using the Pythagorean theorem, 30-60-90 and 45-45-90 triangles, laws of sine and cosine, and laws of quadrilaterals. She scored a 75% overall on the exam, she made a few simple calculation errors that she lost points on but struggled with the word problems and using the laws of sine and cosine. Together we worked through the difficult material she missed. I helped her identify the important information within a word problem and how to change words into mathematical expression. She did very well taking in the information and solving the problems once she had them set-up correctly. She could still work on solving problems using the laws of sine and cosine."
"Today we started chapter 7 of the Geometry class, which is the introduction to Trigonometry. I decided to take a different approach since the material seemed much more simple than other units. We went through the entire pre-test together and I taught him the material myself. This took almost the entire session. He caught on to the material very quickly and I don't think this chapter will take very much time."
"Reviewed concepts relating to circles. Focused on angle measures and arc measures. Then, reviewed tangent and secant lines and the properties associates with each. The student has a good understanding of these concepts, and the time was spent practicing to make sure he was applying correctly and reviewing any issues identified during practice."
"Today we covered ratios of perimeters and areas. We worked through homework problems on a worksheet from the student's teacher. We practiced converting between length ratios and area ratios. He is able to work through individual problems with assistance, and will continue to practice in order to fully solidify the concepts."
"We worked on finding the area of various shapes using our triangle and rectangle formulas. We also incorporated sin, cos, tan ratios, and Pythagorean triples to help us find missing information. The session went very well."
