Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed her last assignment. As I expected, she did a lot of it on her own very well, but got hung up on the more advanced u-substitution problems. I showed her how some problems have a "loop around" where you have to re-replace a single x with a function of u, and we did problems that involved that as well as various trig problems. Sunday we will meet to review for her final!"
"Today we covered decomposition of rational expressions and reviewed converting back and forth between polar and rectangular coordinates."
"We did a quick review of using integrals to calculate the volume of a solid, and set up the student on a plan to study for his final."
"We continued going over the student's review material. We went over differentials, percent error, and other topics."
"The student and I spent most of the session on calculus. We reviewed her most recent calculus exam on integration. We began reviewing the next section of the course, partial differentiation. We worked through some example problems from class notes. She did well with the partial differentiation."
"We began by learning the steps to complete problems and practiced with a few examples. After knocking that out we started going through some of his online assignments. The first few problems involved implicit differentiation and finding tangent lines. I tried to emphasize the step-by-step approach and also made the connection between the numbers and what they represented in a plot. The student caught on quickly and we soon moved onto problems that involved the derivatives of exponentials and logarithms. We worked through a variety of problems that combined the chain rule, product rule, and exponentials."
