Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has just started the trigonometry portion of her Pre-Calculus class. We have covered the Unit Circle and the 'friendly triangles.' Her performance in this portion of her class will depend a lot of her ongoing practice of the Unit Circle. I had a good discussion with her mother about the student's need for a private study of this topic in trigonometry."
"We have reviewed the rule of similar triangles and relations of sides in right triangles. Two types of special right triangles (90/30/60) and (90/45/45) were specially highlighted as reflected in his note. In addition, what I most addressed is how to start resolving a triangle geometry question independently and how to reach the target step by step. I also taught the algebra concepts and rules related to the geometry topics. I believe the student should be able to improve his study gradually, as long as he can continue to practice the topics by himself and make use of the textbook."
"The student is happy to learn and understand the statistical methods. He is able to use them in his research proposal and critically appraise others' proposals too. In this session, we discussed an assignment that he is to submit as part of his course."
"The other day with the student went wonderfully. I came up with a few problems for him to do in his areas of struggle such as multiplying and dividing by negatives, geometry, and word problems. I had to walk him through one of the word problems but once he saw it as an equation he solved it with virtually no problems. I have started to make sure that in every equation and every problem he answers for me he has to write out every step of his work. We started this practice yesterday."
"Today we discussed continuity, limits involving trig functions, and related rates. We will continue covering these topics as the date of the test approaches."
"We reviewed mental math, enrichment, logarithm word problems and exponents. The student continues to excel and will likely see more 90+ scores exhibited from his last couple of exams. He likes learning new concepts and is always engaging in our sessions, I left him a difficult problem to work on."
