"The student and I went over questions from her practice final exam. We focused on capital markets, perfectly competitive firms, and price discrimination. She said she was feeling much more confident than she did for her midterm exam and that a lot of the concepts were making sense now. I suggested making sure she has a firm grasp of all the formulas the professor provided that way she can use the formula sheet to jar her memory and help motivate her answers to the short questions, which tend to be the most difficult."
"Today the student and I discussed how she was feeling about the class and what strategies she had been using to prepare so far. Then we discussed her biggest areas of concern for this test, which she said were subsidies/taxes and deadweight loss, and externalities/public goods. We spent this session going over taxation--we did practice questions and then went over the issue in-depth. I also recommended a section of her textbook to review, and pointed her to a helpful series of YouTube videos explaining the concept. We then planned to go over externalities in our next session."
"He wanted to review some of the materials from his course that he learned because of his midterm, due Monday. We reviewed basic financial statements and how to find information therein for various financial formulas. We also reviewed some formulas on returns and valuing stocks. It's clear that going over the formulas is useful to him -- once he understands the mechanics, the concepts all fall into place."
