"At this point we have worked through all the different parts of the test except the essay, and we are now working on knowing this material. This week she will be writing an essay and in two weeks she will be taking an assessment practice test."
"We went through several free-response type questions as well as some more multiple choice questions. We focused on several different topics such as probability, areas, polygons, complex operations, and combinations. We also continued to look at how to analyze a question to determine what it is actually looking for and what keywords to look for. The student is doing well with the geometry based questions to find values for certain shapes or angles, and he is getting better and being able to use these values to solve algebraic equations. He is also doing better at finding the probabilities of certain outcomes or the number of combinations once he is able to fully describe the situation."
"The student and I began by discussing her goals for the test. During the session, we discussed many aspects of poetry, especially how to read/interpret sonnets, and by the end she seemed to be comfortable with sonnets. We reviewed many test strategies, including eliminating similar answers, using context clues, learning about the poem from information that the answers give you, and taking a moment after reading to digest the meaning before moving on to answering questions. I had her complete two reading sections that we then reviewed together. We agreed that she would take a full practice test before our next meeting, grade it herself, and be prepared to go over it with me."
