Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered rational equations. He is a good and Math, but finds the Word problems challenging. We worked on interpreting and solving these questions correctly as well as other topics in the chapter. He should be advised to bring in materials such as worksheets he can't solve to facilitate the tutoring process."
"Discussed more probabilities and some general statistical theorems and rules, (e.g., the amount of area underneath the probability density function is the same as the probability of that characteristic occurring in the population). Session went pretty well and we plan to meet a lot over the next few days."
"The student and I had our last session today. We worked primarily on English, reviewing his vocabulary, but we spent the last half hour on Heath, starting to go over the chapter summaries. He should also review his notes on his own and make sure to look over the important diagrams in the textbook."
"We did a thorough review of reflexive verbs in preparation for a test the student is taking this week. We reviewed what they are, how they are formed, how to use them in the present tense, the passé compose (and when agreement is necessary), and positive and negative commands. We also reviewed reflexive verb vocabulary, including daily routine and verbs that change meaning depending on whether they are used reflexively or not. The student did well!"
"Today, the student and I had our last session. We worked on the use of auxiliary verbs in the construction of the past tense. We also completed a reading comprehension activity. It was a pleasure working with her, and I wish her the best in her studies of the French language."
"The student and I continued working on his descriptive writing techniques. He wrote definitions for words in the same semantic categories. He then looked up words in the dictionary. Next week we will begin to use these words in sentences until he gains confidence and competence. We also spent some time reviewing Spanish for his quiz next week."
"We covered math and science portions today. He is doing well but is still struggling when it comes to problems that involve a lot of wording. Our goals for next session is to help him discern what is important in longer problem stems and effectively skimming through passages."
"During this session, we developed the student's SAT essay writing skills. We touched on essays, rubric, and strategies from the prep book and the adaptable essay approach. Our next session will be in two weeks."
"GREAT Session! The student and I went through Adverbs for her exam tomorrow. We went through the extra credit worksheet that she had, and we talked about tricks to remember what words are adverbs. We were able to look at some different worksheets online to just cement what she knows about adverbs. We also looked over a little bit of her Spanish because she also has an exam in that class tomorrow. Overall I felt like this was a very good session and we're both still getting to know each other, but it's already becoming a very effective and productive relationship."
"During this session the student brought in some question from passages that he worked on during last week, mainly on electric circuits and circular uniform motion. Afterwards we talked about structure of organic molecules, nomenclature, and isomers. He is devoted to score high this time."
"We learned a new lesson as well as reviewing what we have learned before. She did fairly well on her homework. Left more written homework for her. In general, it was a very good session."
"We worked on Chapter 5A, its corresponding vocabulary, and the grammatical differences between the preterite and imperfect tenses. We also made two new verb charts: irregular preterite stems and spell-stem changing preterite ir verbs."
