Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I met for the first time today. We went over notes and topics from her statistics class that she wasn't fully understanding. We considered things conceptually instead of just plugging numbers into formulas. Before our next meeting, she is going to clarify a couple of additional points with her professor and make formula flashcards."
"This week we began review for the student's first test focusing on correlation and normal curves specifically. We also completed homework relating to normal curves. Scores from current and past week's homework showing improvement."
"We worked in much greater depth on what occurred when an altitude was drawn onto the hypotenuse. We went through extensive proofs for all of the statements so that the student could hopefully recreate the results himself going back and reproving the side splitter and angle bisector theorems. There have been far fewer mistakes with algebra, which made me quite happy."
"We worked on a homework assignment and studied for a test in a pre-statistics workshop class. We went over concepts and homework and practice problems for factorials, permutations and combinations. For extra practice, he will work on prep tests in order to study more for the exam. I did not have any concerns from this session."
"The student and I worked on material that was being covered on her exam for Wednesday. It included retrospective and prospective studies, as well as designed experiments. We reviewed a list of terms from her most recent chapter and went over a worksheet to review for the exam. The student told me she is feeling confident with the material and has a good understanding with the concepts."
"In this meeting, we went over discrete random variables. We calculated means of them, and calculated SD for them."
