Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"First we did the review of the last lesson, we went over some of the vocab from the last time. We then played two games with different words this time, and we read two pages of "Mei Zhou." We learned a few new vocab: jelly, alien, ugly, afternoon, go to school, cell phone, tomato; after that, we played a little act with a scenario in a Chinese class room setting. We then watched a short classic Chinese cartoon "The Donkey Story", and she enjoyed the film a lot. I taught her a few new vocab: donkey, grandpa, bridge, farmer, child, old woman."
"We covered Chapter 4 in the student's book today. I can tell that she is a fast learner. We are going to spend more time practicing/memorizing the characters so that she can do better on the quizzes at the beginning of the session. Her ability to distinguish the four tones have improved since the last two sessions, along with her ability to recognize the correct way to write each character's stroke order. I left her with the end of the chapter exercises to do for practice, and she should write each new character from the lesson at least 10 times for mastery."
"We worked on how to ask and answer questions. I taught the student where, how much, what, and why. We formulated different kinds of questions and answered them. The student will send detailed lesson notes. I assigned her to really study verbs and sentence structure that we've studied."
"We went over chapter 12-14 in the book, including reading and writing the characters. The student should review the words from chapter 8-14 for next week's quiz. We also went over some Chinese videos to see how daily Chinese is used. We also studied some additional exercises on a program in Chinese."
"Today, we covered chapters 9-14 in the workbook. I had the student practice saying the words on her own without my help. We continued this week by making more flashcards, so having her work with these throughout the week would be really great!"
"We learned how to count in Japanese from 1 to 99,999. We also learned how to introduce yourself, and some vocals, and completed Japanese Hiragana letters."
