Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed her homework over two column proofs; we reviewed isosceles triangles, the Isosceles Triangle Theorem, Angle-Side-Angle, Angle-Angle-Side, Side-Angle-Angle, and the Corresponding Angle Theorem."
"The student and I worked almost solely on homework during the session, with a little bit of clarification on previous topics she had trouble fully understanding. We initially worked with coplanar/collinear concepts on a review she had, and we eventually moved to homework. We also went over the difference between angle addition theorem (part 2) and the definition of supplementary angles. Her homework was over the distance formula on a coordinate plane (basic to intermediate), all the way to the formula for circles. She's so smart and driven."
"We reviewed Geometry homework. Angles: vertical, complementary, and supplementary. The student had a homework assignment consisting of 55 different angles, 4 parallel lines (horizontal), and 4 bisecting lines. 4 angles were given and the rest had to be determined. In order to accomplish this assignment we had to define each type of angle conceptually and mathematically. After clearly defining the subject matter, the student completed the sheet with a couple questions and we went through it together to explain how and why the determined angles were correct or incorrect."
"Covered point slope formula, graphing parallel and perpendicular lines, and perpendicular line theorems. The student did well using point slope formula but still needs more practice with theorems, word problems, and rise over run when graphing slopes."
"The student and I went through her answers on the test. She knows the material. Then we did congruent triangle theorems, and she is grasping the concepts well."
"Today, we began by trying to go through some of the more difficult basic skills that were throwing the student off course. We went through simplifying radicals and using proportions to solve for side lengths in 45-45-90 and 30-60-90 triangles. Memorizing perfect squares will really help the student with simplification. We are also going to begin working on more basic multiplication skills."
