"The student has an upcoming assessment test in geometry, so we spent our session preparing for the test by using an online practice assessment provided by his teacher. The assessment tested the student's knowledge of many different concepts in geometry, including arc angles; geometric proofs; alternate interior angles; trigonometric inequalities; determining the sum of the interior angles of a polygon; applying Euler's rule to find the number of vertices, edges, and faces of a polyhedron net; and solving word problems regarding proportional rectangles. After seeing how to solve each type of problem, the student understood the material very well, and answered all questions about intermediate steps correctly as we worked through the problems."
"We reviewed how to graph complex polynomial functions without a calculator. We discussed, end behavior, multiplicity, holes, and vertical, horizontal, and slant asymptotes. We were able to work on a handout her math teacher gave her. The student was able to solve all of the problems on the worksheet with my guidance."
"We covered inverse trig functions, parametric equations and polar coordinates, series and sequence, mechanics applications. The student had a good attitude as usual and didn't struggle much. Strategies focused on drawings and some extra practice with coordinate conversion, and I hope to get her some extra review over email before her test Thursday."
"Today we began reviewing the student's project on functions. I'm encouraged to know that she has great attitude for any topic we review and despite her reservations regarding how much she knows I can see that she actually knows more than she gives herself credit for. Today we worked mainly on the definition of functions and plugging in the f (x+h) - f (x) derivative equation. Some minor factoring and fraction addition must be reviewed but I feel that with practice she can do extremely well."
"Today, the student and I focused on an introduction to vectors. We discussed the defining features of a vector, magnitude and direction. We then went further to discuss the addition of vectors graphically and algebraically. We worked through a few application problems to round out our session."
