"The student and I covered basic introductory phrases in French. We learned the many different greetings, formal and informal, practiced our pronunciation, the alphabet, numbers, and a conversation between a waiter and a customer in a restaurant. We also learned who, what, where, when and why. We reviewed important verbs used in introductions. I recommended two different books and some other online sources for her studies. I asked her to come up with her own conversation between two people using the same introduction that we practiced together. I'd like her to memorize it as best as she can. She is a very motivated student with already a good understanding of grammar and languages. It was great working with her and I look forward to helping her progress!"
"Today we did a review of what the student will need to know as she will begin her French classes tomorrow in school. She excelled! She knows her numbers 1-20, weeks and months of the year, and basic greeting vocabulary. We then went over the numbers 30-100 as well as school-related vocabulary. Next week, I hope to gather an idea of what direction her French teacher will take so I can work to strengthen what she will be learning in class."
"Today we covered articles of clothing with the correct gender, and the students did a crossword on articles of clothing . Then I had them do more assignments on indefinite articles, verb conjugation, and translating sentences using these verbs understanding prendre in context. Both boys have good attitudes. We are generally off to a good start. My intention is to devote more time to pronunciation and dictation, as well as creating exercises out of each homework assignment for the purpose of repetition."
"The student did a terrific job tonight! He worked well, long, and hard on his corrections and on translations of sentences embedded with triggers for the subjunctive (or not, in a few trick cases)."
"Study of La Gloire de Mon Pere by Marcel Pagnol and listening comprehension. Wrote a summary of the story and learn new words and idiomatic expressions. Cultural notes about France in the early 1900's and the life of public school teacher."
"This session went very well. The student continues to become more and more confident in bringing in examples to support her cultural comparisons. Her grammar and syntax is also improving, and I am very excited for her to take the AP; she is very capable and has a firm grasp on the French language."
