Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We began our session looking at the verbal section. I gave the student two timed synonym sections, asking him to answer every question and mark the ones that he would have left blank. After reviewing the first section, it was clear that there was a strategy that the student could develop. In addition, we discovered that placing a word in a sentence was useful. At this point, those strategies are what will save him points. From here we moved onto a quantitative section. We went through these problems one by one. Our plan will be to come back to problems that give him difficulty, to take word problems step-by-step, and to write out the equation that is necessary. For our final session, I assigned him two timed sections for reading comprehension and quantitative ability. Our final session will be devoted to talking about strategies."
"Today, we began looking at the practice tests. We completed problems from each section of the test. The next section we will finish the practice test and evaluate strengths and weaknesses."
"We went over topic sentence type questions and went over examples of each. We went over strategies that the student can use for each type. We then went over geometry concepts and did practice questions. We then discussed anxiety management for test day. I gave her math homework to work on if she had extra time before our next session."
