Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has been making steady progress on her coursework, bringing us to evaluate limits using trig identities, as well as using L'Hopital's Rule. She showed some really good mathematical thinking on a few of the pre-L'Hopital's problems, and as always, everything was relatively easy. At the end, I mentioned usage of Pascal's Triangle for the generation of the coefficients to a Binomial Expansion."
"We covered finding the inverse of trigonometric functions, their domain and range; finding the exact value of trigonometric expressions without the use of a calculator; and simplifying trigonometric expressions."
"She started learning about half-angle equations in class this week. I explained the new concept to her and we completed several problems together. She seems to understand how to solve these problems well, but struggled a little with simplifying the algebraic expressions with radicals. After we did a few problems together, she was able to test herself and get the rest of the problems correct. Overall it was a good session."
"We went over linear programming, reflections/translations on graphs, and even and odd functions. Then we worked on questions dealing with systems of equations, modeling with matrices, and operations with matrices, including translations/rotations and adding/multiplying. The student needed some clarification on the topics and was able to solve the problems once I explained them to her."
"We went over the difference formula and how it applies to calc and solving for slope. We then discussed odd and even functions, domain, and range. The student definitely seemed to catch on fast to the material."
"We did review for the student's test on Monday. Topics included variation, joint variation, rates of change, and secant/ tangent lines. We worked on a couple of problems from each topic to make sure he was comfortable with them. I can tell he has been studying and practicing!"
