"This was my first class with the student. We began the class with introductions and talked a bit about his goals and experiences with Spanish. He wants to become conversationally fluent in order to be able to use Spanish for traveling. Although he does not have concrete travel plans, any traveling would be taking place in the summer, which gave of us some sense of the time scale we'd be working on and will be helpful for me as I try to determine the pace of the class. After we'd talked about goals and his level of knowledge of Spanish, we spent most of the rest of the class simply conversing in Spanish, so I could get a sense of areas he was strong in and areas that needed more work. He seems to have a pretty solid grasp of present tense verbs and of everyday vocabulary. He remembers some of the past tense, but needs some more practice and clarification in that area. For future classes, he expressed an interest in learning some basic medical terminology, as he'll be starting medical school next fall."
"We reviewed vocabulary and phrases for the unit on food. The student is making great progress on her vocabulary and her pronunciation."
"We reviewed our list of phrases. The student's pronunciation has greatly improved, and he has followed my recommendation of using flashcards to help ease the memorization process."
