"Circles - arcs, chords, circumference, central angles, theorems regarding circle properties She struggled a bit on knowing when to apply Pythagorean theorem in certain problems. She felt very comfortable with the reviewed material. One thing I reminded her is to not add in her x variable when the problem already gives algebraic expressions (with x). Her textbook has good practice problems. She got an A on her last geometry test."
"During today's session, we first discussed the student's class project coming up this Friday. It involves a 15 minute presentation of 3D coordinate geometry, including an interactive activity with the class. I reviewed the student's notes and research about the topic, and provided her with some suggestions on interactive activities. Next, we prepared for her exam tomorrow. We reviewed the last two sections of Chapter 6 and all of Chapter 7. I addressed her questions about specific homework problems, and we also reviewed concepts and formulas. She appears very well prepared for the exam tomorrow as well as her presentation on Friday."
"The student and I worked on her test review (test next class) for geometry. She was able to complete almost all of the problems with no issue. There were 2 questions on the review that were calculus-based (finding areas under curves). As I had already given her a brief overview of differential and integral calculus, it wasn't a major issue, but I did recommend that she ask her geometry teacher about methods for similar problems."
"Today's session was a continuation of yesterday's session. The student and I reviewed all of his geometry coursework from the last few months of his class. Specifically, we reviewed how to find the area and perimeter of any regular polygon and several irregular polygons. We also reviewed Algebra concepts that are starting to be inserted into his classes. He was polite, engaged, and very focused."
"This was a great session! We reviewed homework assignments from last week and covered the next three sections. We decided to go for a broad understanding of these sections in order to cover more ground since we meet every other week. This section will require some memorization, so I think it's great that the student has a bit of a head start before it's introduced in class. Some of the material comes very naturally to her, and I was so happy to hear that she felt very confident on the midterm (which she aced!). We got a lot done!"
"Today, we worked on finding the area of regular polygons. The calculations were a bit tedious for the student, but she understands how to do them. We also covered arc length and measurement for circles."
