Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed 1-30 and 1-61 at the beginning of the session, and then we worked on shapes and colors by completing two worksheets and completing a small scavenger hunt for shapes and colors. Additionally we went over the concept of small, medium, and large."
"I'm so proud. The student has learned the majority of the alphabet and is steadily improving his introductions (questions and answers) in the language. I've assigned him some study work online and he's been doing very well with that. We began studying feminine and masculine nouns last week and he's doing well learning the patterns."
"Today we watched a Cuento - Rosie the Elephant goes to the City. We discovered that videos like this are an excellent way for the student to learn and repeat new vocabulary. It was a very successful class."
"Student and instructor practiced asking and answering questions using time expressions (adverbs of time), as a way of also rehearsing the use of verb tenses that correspond to these expressions; then adverbs of place: Q: "Donde esta tu telefono?" A: "Esta encima del libro" etc."
"The student and I learned Spanish words for family members. We completed workbook exercises and then made a family tree of her family members. Afterward, we worked on her spelling words for the week."
"We reviewed the concepts covered in the first session with emphasis on conversation and pronunciation. New concepts covered included: vocabulary related to verb commands, physical descriptions of people, types of people, greetings, useful connection words; possessives; telling time; and ser vs. estar. Links to practice on ser/estar and telling time were sent via email for practice in preparation for the next scheduled session on Tuesday. The student remains eager to learn and is receptive to my conversational teaching style."
