Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Discussed how the exam fits into larger application process. Reviewed two difficult verbal passages. In-depth analysis of passage and questions using strategies. Looked at general chemistry passage that covered multiple topics. Went through content in acid-base chemistry and titrations. Reviewed a relevant passage and analyzed questions in-depth."
"The student has shown remarkable improvement. We worked on electrochemistry today and did mostly passages. We also worked on passages related to microbiology."
"The student and I met today and discussed her studying. With her input, I prepared practice problem sets based on what she felt she needed to review, which included Newtonian mechanics and work-energy problems from physics, Gas Laws and redox chemistry from general chemistry, and hormones for biology. We also discussed what to expect on test day and what to do leading up to the days of test day. Our last session will mostly be drills over content review."
"Today was my second session with the student. We continued our review of mathematics. We went over exponents, particularly how to multiply/divide and add/subtract numbers with exponents. We also reviewed logarithms and operations of logarithms, in addition to proportional change. Furthermore, we went over graphs and how to calculate slope and what it means. We also did a quick review of geometry such as calculating areas, surface areas and volumes of common shapes. At the end of the session we agreed that he would review the material we had done so far, go over the material in his test prep books, and solve the practice problems in them. There are no concerns for this session."
"Yesterday, the student completed a full practice test and received a 29, with a 9 in verbal. He was happy with his verbal score, which is a big improvement. We did a practice verbal test together. For next time, his goal is to complete another verbal practice test."
"The student and I completed passages in a learning tool website that dealt with phase changes, DNA recombination, the lactose operon, the electron transport chain, glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, and enzyme kinetics and function. I strongly recommended that he purchase a biochemistry review book so that he can enhance his understanding of these key topics, to which he agreed. He did well in the physical science section, and I am not as concerned for this topic."
