Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went through his schedule to understand his workload for the next few weeks. He is on top of his assignments and has an economics test next week, so we decided to make that the focus of the next couple of days. We went over the five chapters that will be on his test, and he will read/study them and do the practice problems over the weekend. We will meet again on Monday to make sure he understands the material before his Tuesday test. He has other tests the week after that we will work on after Monday."
"After reviewing progress on the established agenda we reviewed the upcoming agenda to make sure time and task management strategies established the week before were effective. Proceeding, we reviewed and clarified points from the student's in-class notes. The concepts included the primary economic problem "limited resources to fill unlimited wants," scarcity, economic utility, the law of supply, and the law of demand. In applying these concepts we looked to the upcoming assignment for discussion to check for understanding. In addition to economics curriculum we reviewed and utilized short essay formatting and writing techniques."
"We specifically reviewed the PPF, opportunity cost, direct trade offs, as well as a small amount on specialization. The bulk of our focus was on International trade as a concept and as the ability to increase a nation's wealth. Finally, we reviewed the ideas of Demand and Supply, and the basic terms relating to them (equilibrium, surplus, shortage). She is a good student, but having the review is very helpful. She's positive towards the subject and easily grasps concepts. We discussed specific questions or concepts that are likely to be on an upcoming exam. Next week will be preparation for that exam."
