Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We started the student's second lab on lexical analyzer by creating the main function and reading the characters from the console and testing for ID and STRING. He was catching up with the algorithm and the C++ string. He was motivated to learn the language."
"The student went over some more homework problems. She already had most of them 90% done, and just needed the final push to get through. So she finished a lot of them. This brought up points about friended functions, how constructors and destructors are invoked, and how the ostream operator overloading works. We also used less to help sift through the compiler output."
"We covered array syntax, declaration, defining, and calling. We also covered how functions are properly created and how to let the program know there are custom made functions ready for use. The student needed help with using functions and arrays to switch specific elements in the array. He kept a positive attitude throughout the entire material that was reviewed. He asked questions about things he had trouble with and I was more than happy to clarify and answer his questions."
"The student went over the next assignment, using the stack for mathematical operations. We also covered file output operations and pass by reference again. He started the assignment and will continue based on the pseudo code and we'll see how far he gets."
"We continued to work on creating the MyStrings class. We worked on constructors using Visual Studio and strings and char*."
"We focused on running Java Swing applications, layout, and Actions. In particular, we explored how ActionListeners work, and how to integrate them with JButtons, then capture the events and make things happen when the actions are triggered."
