Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered continuous random variables and the joint distribution of two random variables. We discussed joint, marginal, and conditional probability density functions. We selected some problems from the text and worked through them together. The student will work on some additional problems on her own."
"The client needed help conceptualizing her data for a research study on sleep and presleep activities. We discussed different approaches for analysis including the pros and cons, and why and how different types of tests might or might not be appropriate for the data she has."
"We studied permutations and combinations. The student needed help with the differences between permutations and combinations, but picked it up and it was clicking for him at the end of our session. I left him with a website that talks about the differences between the two, so hopefully he will take a look at that."
"We worked on different types of distributions and their means. The student did well, and we were able to find some good shortcuts using a calculator to save her time from writing it all out. She has a test next week."
"We went over a practice exam that the student's teacher left for her, including one of the questions he left out because it was "too hard." It was, in fact, not too hard. She had it right before my help; I just confirmed that she was on the right track. She seems to have an aptitude for stats; she catches on quickly."
"We're getting into some good complex problems now. The student had two problems to go over on his homework. We discussed hypothesis tests for means using the normal distribution and finding power and minimum sample sizes in order to achieve the desired power. It was a good solid session! We will be in touch about next week."
