Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we reviewed the material from yesterday, focusing on the paradigms for the first and second declension and conjugation. We also learned the present active indicative forms of the verb "sum," and in the end worked on some sample problems from the student's first Latin test."
"We specifically covered declensions of nouns and present tense conjugations. We will continue to work on organizing the material so that it can be used easily for reference. Feel free to email assignments from the student's teacher for me to look over before the next session."
"I met the student for the first time today. We discussed his academic history with Latin. He hasn't started the school year yet, so I reviewed a few declensions (1, 2, 3) and conjugations (1, 2) with him which he'd started last year. He said he was not yet comfortable making sentences. This year he will be taking both Latin and French, so his mother asked if I can split future session time between Latin and French, which is fine with me. Latin can be dry, so I'll look into ways to make the material more engaging and easier to memorize."
"The student and I have started reviewing for her exam. We briefly covered adverbs, changing words to the female use and adding -mente. We reviewed the class syllabus together and started to review the concepts covered in class, (i.e., numbers, alphabet, colors, pronouns, and articles). I encouraged the student to practice Spanish this week so she can be prepared for our next session. Her listening part of her final exam will be on the last day of classes, I recommend she start listening to videos of Spanish speaking teachers to practice hearing conversations."
"We covered specifically medical terminology. The student is struggling with pronunciation, but can read the material fluently. Her attitude has always been positive and excited about the material. I included strategies and extra practice for her to do on her own."
"Chapter 4 of El Nuevo Huidini book, answering comprehension questions about the reading. Crossword puzzle activity. Translate vocabulary words and textbook vocabulary. Complete a present tense verb conjugation worksheet."
