Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session, the student and I reviewed the preterite vs imperfect, along with the reflexive verbs and pronouns. She understands tenses, vocabulary, and when to use the right tense in most cases. I encourage her to re-visit the table that depicts the different conditions on when each tense is used. She has an exam on Friday, and I am very confident that she will exceed her expectations."
"We covered specifically medical terminology. Her attitude has always been positive and excited about the material."
"The session went well. We practiced and reviewed what we did last week. This week we practiced the "er" and "ir" ending verbs, adjectives and possessive adjective. As homework he has to write a sentence with each verb introduced in the chapter."
"Today we mainly practiced speaking in preparation for her Oral Exam next Wed. There is a list of questions we reviewed and did a ton of Q and A. The student needs to focus on conjugating verbs appropriately and keep nouns and adjectives agreeing in number and gender-- i.e. Los Chicos Son Altos."
"We reviewed the student's vocabulary and grammar. She has two assessments over the next two weeks, so we reviewed the material that will be tested. We played Taboo to work on circumlocution. Circumlocution is the ability to describe or talk around what you are trying to say when you cannot remember the word. I can tell that she has been practicing on her own. Her vocabulary is expanding and her sentence structures are improving."
"We started talking about the verb "to be," with its two different meanings in Spanish, then we used them to express feelings; first of all I told him some of them and he wrote them; then we started using them-- I made some faces or mimicked them and he guessed them. Also he started to create sentences using the verb "to be" and the feelings that we were learning. He was very enthusiastic and did a great job practicing, memorizing and making correlations in order to use them properly. He asked me to tell him what to learn for the following days in order to create small goals and reach them in a short term, so right now he has memorize what we practiced today and be able to say it without hesitation."
