Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was our first session, so we went through her strengths and weaknesses on both the SAT and the ACT tests. I gave her a few resources to help her out. I asked her to have the ACT Math diagnostic done for me for Sunday."
"In session, we covered compound interest problems, addition/subtraction/multiplication of complex numbers, matrix properties, direct and inverse variation, simplifying square roots for addition/subtraction, absolute value inequalities, permutation questions, finding the nth term of an arithmetic sequence, and simple interest. I've also decided to start sending her daily ACT Reading and Math practice exams to supplement our tutoring sessions, in preparation for her upcoming ACT test."
"Today we went over the student's SAT from a few weeks ago. We talked about strategies for moving forward and new goals for the June exam. We agreed that we would like to get above 1800 but that our top goal would be 2100. To do so, he agreed that we would have to work very hard. We began the lesson by going over his homework. We went over his first assignment, which was to practice writing outlines for different prompts. We then went over a reading section, adding to our vocabulary list, and then finished up with a math section. We then moved on to our grammar lesson, given that he wanted to work on his writing section. We went over tenses and punctuation. I left him with a few homework sections. I also told him to keep adding vocabulary to his list and to review his notes. Furthermore, I told him to read over model essays to get a better idea on how to write thesis sentences and connect ideas."
