Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In today's session, the student and I went through a review packet to help prepare him for his upcoming exam. The material consisted of problems that dealt a great deal with factoring. Upon completion of our session, Insu felt extremely confident about the material and he is looking forward to getting one more study session in before his exam to make sure he knows every bit of this unit's material."
"We continued working on basic trig functions and its applications. The student understood the concepts for the most part, but just needed help understanding what was being asked in problems. Once we reviewed all possible applications and how the books will ask for them, he had very little trouble going through problems. I then gave him some tips to check his work to ensure proper work and reduction of typos. Student has a quiz on Monday."
"The student and I met for the first time on Saturday to go over some problems that were proving to be difficult in class. We focused on tangents, introduction to trigonometric functions and special right triangles. The student was engaged and participating. This topic is definitely confusing and takes time to fully master it. With practice, she will handle sine cosine and tangent with ease. She agreed to contact me later when she needs additional help."
"The student did a fantastic job! She did a Chapter 8 test out of the book and made an A. She has mastered quadrilaterals and the special parallelograms. She knows the characteristics and can find unknown values. We then went over translations of points to get her prepared for the upcoming chapter and will go over more on those concepts next week. She works very hard and is easy to work with as a student."
"The student worked on his homework assignment, the majority of which involved right triangle trigonometry. He is growing more confident coming up with the various steps on his own."
"Student A and I studied for his upcoming physics test on waves and EM radiation. He seemed like he had a good understanding of the features of waves (crest, amplitude, wavelength, etc.), but he needed some help reviewing the types of EM waves (radio, gamma, etc.). He also needed a review on refraction of light through different media. Student B and I studied for his make-up quiz in geometry on special right triangles and properties of circles by going through his mistakes on his latest test. He honestly didn't do too bad; he lost a lot of points from just two problems of the test, which were due to forgetting some concepts we've covered before. After looking at those two questions, he understood his mistakes and wondered how he could have missed these two problems. He seems to have a good understanding of the other concepts, such as simplifying radicals."
