Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The first section was intended to check the skill level of the four students. We covered simply greetings and introductions. The two adults had very good understanding of the basic concepts covered. The 13-year-old struggled a bit with pronunciation and understanding. The youngest one grasps concepts pretty quickly and is a very receptive learner. All students had pretty good attitudes in general. I provided a PowerPoint lesson for them to know what we were going to do. I also linked it to some sites for personal practice. We practice short conversation, and the whole session focused more on using the target language. I suggested some sites and gave them access to an online resources that I use for my classes for practice and future lessons."
"We went through some phrases-- usable phrase-- with the student, and marked the verbs most utilized, as well as some standard everyday use phrases."
"Since the student has an speaking examination on Friday, a majority of the session was focused around conversation strategies, vocabulary, and practical speaking. He brought the list of potential speaking prompts with him and we cycled through a variety of scenarios. As the conversations went on, he definitely became more comfortable and confident in his speaking abilities."
"We conversed the whole time, using key grammatical concepts in the book I gave him. While he has a tremendous base, the review of the rules are a great help to him. He likes this methodology."
"Today, we practiced the student's speech in Spanish. We practiced pronunciation and emphasis with different words. His pronunciation is improving, and he is able to speak Spanish faster than before."
"We reviewed today the use of reflexive verbs with the present progressive. The students practiced writing with a dictation and answering some questions. They have to read the new material sent to their emails about reflexive verbs with present progressive tense."
