Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has an exam tomorrow based on the reading we did yesterday. For our session today, we read the story one more time and then we proceeded to practice the questions. Once again, we emphasized the keywords that he needed to look for in the reading to attach those keywords to specific answers. The student studied and I tested him a few times with a variety of questions that had the keywords in question as their common characteristic. The student did pretty well, but he still needs to study a little more on his own."
"We covered conversational topics that included medical vocabulary and a wide variety of verb tenses: present, future, conditional, and the imperfect tense. The student continues to make excellent progress with her vocabulary and grammar acquisition."
"The student has B's and A's with one C in science. We continued this session working on the very long study guide for science (164 items). We continued to look for help in the book and used the internet to fill in some gaps. He is very good at summarizing information and retelling it in his own words. We also spent some time actually talking about some of the items in the study guide, including the solar system, wind currents, the difference between Jovian and terrestrial planets, and who were the main scientists in regards to astronomy and also what they discovered. We should be able to finish it the next time we meet."
"We covered first chapter from his book and reviewed the alphabet. Downloaded phone application to practice correct pronunciation of alphabet in Spanish. Gave him homework to review chapter. It all went well."
"Today we were reading an article about discrimination of women in Spain at work in order to learn more business vocabulary. We found a lot of new words that are going to be very useful for the student. He told me he liked what we did so we are going to repeat it in another time. Right now I am focusing in reading, because there are so many documents in Spanish that he gets that it would be very good for him to understand them. I want to dedicate some more time to increase his speaking skills, but this is going to be little by little every session."
"We went over the whole chapter, which covered three countries: Bolivia, Paraguay, and Uruguay. We reviewed the differences between por and para. We also reviewed objective pronouns, passive voice, and how to apply these concepts to sentences."
