Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Tonight we did math (number theory, logic, arithmetic), writing (misplaced modifiers, temporal agreement of verbs, avoiding run-on sentences, comma usage, etc.), vocabulary (sentence completion), and reading. The student had a great attitude, as always. She works hard and has a really great attention span. I am going to send her some homework questions to work on for extra practice this week. She did pretty well with all of the topics we covered. I think her ability with each topic is fairly equal. We reviewed and practiced some strategies we had previously covered, including eliminating possible answer choices, using context clues, and leaving out extraneous portions of the sentence in order to better understand the essential parts."
"We reviewed the reading and math questions that the student answered on the Homework. We also went over some strategies for the Passage-based Reading questions and the test as a whole. We also covered some of the math content in coordinate geometry, including lines, point-slope form, x-intercept and y-intercept, the definition of one-to-one, and questions about parabolas and the graphs of parabolas. We also went over a question about properties of negative and positive numbers."
"We worked through the questions on the practice test, across all subjects. We were reviewing format of questions for all sections, as well as timing. The student gets most questions right and shows good attention to detail. She needs to work on problem-solving strategies especially for harder math questions. She will continue with practice test and reading prior to next week's session."
