"We discussed the chapter on World War I. The student really seemed interested in the chapter and understood the chapter. It's a complex period of history because a lot of changes were occurring and she seemed to understand those changes and why they were taking place in various countries across the world. We went over the chapter, I quizzed her and helped her remember terms for the upcoming test."
"For this session, we were focused on developing a timeline and thesis for an upcoming change and constants essay on the Indian Ocean trade network from 500-1750 CE. We gathered material from notes we'd taken and from her book, created the timeline, and near the end decided to focus the essay on the changes in religion as a result of trade in the basin."
"During this class we covered the dictators-specifically Stalin and Hitler. The session mainly focused on Russia and the revolution of 1917. We went over the rise of Lenin, his changes to the economy, his death and then the rise of Stalin after him. From there we moved into covering the changes that Stalin made to the Soviet economy. After that we moved into talking more about the economic conditions in Germany, Italy and Russia that made fascism and Communism attractive to people. I think that she made great progress understanding this time period and seemed very interested. She even could make connections with the material and an anime comic book that she was reading in regards to fascism which really showed that she had a grasp on the material. The next session we will continue to cover the 1930's and the time period leading up to WW2."
