"Today, we covered salutations and questions, while also touching on basics of grammar (sentence formation, adjective/noun agreement, etc.). We imagined a conversation with a friend with questions and answers. I wrote the sentences out, and they copied them with translations. We then used flashcards to review colors, numbers, and food vocabulary; they both did very well remembering both words they'd already been exposed to, and new words. To end, we played a game which uses vocabulary for materials (wood, plastic, metal, paper) and common household objects."
"We focused on the student's winter break assignment: over 4 chapters of new vocabulary words such as salir, estar, ser, saber etc. along with sentence constructions. I gave her more flashcard words to work on so as to help her learn her new vocabulary words faster."
"We reviewed the preterite tense, focusing on conjugations for regular and irregular verbs. We also went over the differences between preterite and imperfect past tenses, since the student needed clarification about when to use each tense. She had one supplementary Spanish grammar book, and I came with a Spanish verb chart which I lent her to practice conjugations. She was much more solid on regular verbs, so I highlighted 5-7 common irregular verbs for her to practice between now and next time. I also advised her to make flashcards for these verbs and review them for at least a few minutes every day. Finally, I emailed her a few links to websites that have audio clips for listening comprehension practice."
