"1). Homework worksheet: Find the value of c that completes the square. 2). chapter 8 - Factors : Student already took the test at his school and scored 55%, we went over the test again, corrected all incorrect problems. We learned all the reasons and misconceptions behind each question that he couldn't perform in the test. 3) Spiral Review : Solve equations using square roots. I suggested student to use highlighter so that he can comprehend the information given in the application problems. Student will retake the chapter test tomorrow to improve his previous grades, and he is hoping for the best he can perform in the test really well."
"Reviewed last exam and repeated questions to see what was done incorrectly. We spent most of the session practicing with elimination method of solving systems of equations. The student understands the mechanics but he needs to slow down when solving problems so he doesn't skip parts of the problem."
"We reviewed her previous tests and quizzes so that I could understand what she was struggling with the most. On most of the quizzes she seemed to be making simple mistakes that she noticed once she went back to review the content. However it seems like she was struggling most with plotting and reading distribution graphs. We reviewed information about histograms, box and whisker plots and how mean, median, and mode can represent the central tendencies of data. Once I explained the material, she was able to understand the graphing concept better, but she will still need constant practice. I assigned her a practice problem to complete before our next meeting. Overall it was a good session."
"The student's class is currently working on a multi-part test. She has an excellent equation sheet, but sometimes has trouble identifying which formula or technique to use. We will continue to practice this. Her work is very accurate when she has the equations in front of her. Like last week, we talked mostly about logarithms. She's gradually getting better. We also discussed such topics as transformation of graphs as well as permutations/combinations. She showed good conceptual understanding of their differences and applications."
"The student had an extended project involving rationalizing the denominator and solving rational equations and then checking for extraneous solutions. He completed his homework and we reviewed cases in which there was no solution for radical and rational equations. Once we finished, I checked in to see whether or not they had started a new unit yet. The student reported that they had--they are now covering everything to do with linear equations which so far he has found easy."
"During this session we went over system of equations. We looked at various review questions the student had. She said she had difficulty with them at first but I didn't really see any red flags. She seemed pretty comfortable. She did have trouble with the word problems and graphing at first, but that was fixed throughout the session. Overall this session went well."
