Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We did a review for the student's upcoming trig test. We reviewed trigonometric identities, graphing trig functions, and interpreting a unit circle, as well as transformations of functions and identity proofs. The earlier material was a bit difficult, but he seemed to remember it fairly easily. We also briefly went over the laws of sines and cosines. Overall, the student seems very well prepared for his test."
"This session was spent covering word problems that used the laws of sine and cosine, and preparing the student for her test."
"We covered sum and difference identities. The student seems to be doing very well as she has been working on sections before her teacher goes over them in class."
"The student and I practiced computations with fractions using word problems. We also played math games. She is doing great with her math vocabulary and all areas of fractions, multiplication, and division. We played science games as a closing activity. Earth science is definitely a challenge for her. On Tuesday, we can make these concepts real for her and therefore commit them to her memory so she has a solid foundation in this area upon entering sixth grade. She will review the earth science unit prior to Tuesday as well as continue practicing math concepts taught this year."
"During this session the student and I focused on math. He had a worksheet from school to complete. He needed some help with setting up the word problem to solve. I gave him examples and he was able to complete the assigned problem. After he completed his homework we played math facts games. First we played an addition game, then a multiplication game. He benefits from these games, because it will help him with automaticity. He struggles in this area which causes him to slow down as he is working. As his builds his automaticity, he will become more confident in his work. He is making great progress and I can see his confidence building as we work."
"During this tutoring session we continued to reviewed over pre-primer sight words. The student has made some improvements with remembering some of the pre-primer sight words. We also did number recognition for numbers 11-20, number words, counting, and reciting. This was a very good tutoring session."
