Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Together, we casually worked through some SAT math questions and did a brief geometry review. He usually picks up the concepts and formulas very quickly with just a quick review."
"The student had a few questions on some math questions, so I guided her through them by having her read the questions thoroughly to get out all of the imperative information. We then discussed and wrote an outline for an essay prompt. I asked her to focus on the substance of her argument. This seemed to help her focus on improving her thesis. She was able to come up with a great argument and effective supporting examples. We then worked through a few vocabulary questions, reading passages, and multiple choice math problems where she did a great job using strategies to solve the difficult problems. I left her with a few sections to work on before our next session."
"I met with the student and his mother for the first time yesterday. We started by going over his assessment grades. I wanted to substantiate these scores with some more data of my own, so I had him take diagnostic tests in the Math and Reading sections. His scores there mirrored those that he received on the assessment. Accordingly, our first focus will be the Reading comp and essay sections."
