Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on his final chapter, which covered approximating areas under curves using Riemann sums and comparing them to true area found by integrating. He knew the general theory behind the problems, and we practiced several problems to shore up his computational skills."
"The student completed a 5 question summary of integration. This comprised of finding anti-derivatives, evaluating a definite integral, a volume of revolution problem, a practical motion problem and finally, solving a differential equal to determine population at a future date. Next week, we will begin previewing topics for the student's Pre-Calc/Trig course."
"The student completed an assignment in exponential decay and growth models. He continues to remain careful about his algebra and negative signs."
"I met with the first student and went over the review for her math exam, which covers limits; differentiation; and the power, quotient, product, and chain rules. I then met with the second student and went over math problems."
"The student was on point today. She made sense of some very visual and conceptual material by asking good questions and engaging her imagination to wrap her head around the problems."
"We started looking through the review chapter to see which pre-calculus concepts the student was unsure of. We reviewed domain and range for a function, shifting and scaling graphs, trigonometry, and exponentials. We went through various problems finding the domain and range of an equation and how to write a function. She remembers most of these topics well and we looked at how to write the equations for shifted and scaled graphs in function notation rather than needing the parent function to explicitly write the shifted/scaled equation. We plan on finishing the rest of the review chapter and working through some practice problems for some of the concepts before starting limits and the intro to calculus."
