Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We played a variety of games, utilizing Spanish vocabulary. We particularly used colors and numbers, but also animal names and other vocabulary relating to the games the student chose. He does need to be reminded to use Spanish, but he seems to enjoy saying the words, and his memory for colors and numbers is very good."
"Good lesson, considering that the student was a little sick. We worked on conversation, grammar and helped her review content for her upcoming exam."
"Practiced numbers with Student 1 for a half an hour; prepared for Student 2's exam and presentation for an hour."
"Today the student and I practiced talking about the weather. We then finished on a more abstract exercise that required her to come up with a sentence question for an answer. The exercise really forced her to think about the grammatical structure of Spanish."
"Today, we reviewed for the student's upcoming Spanish test. For the most part, we followed along with the review sheet provided by his Spanish teacher, covering inflection of nouns for number, inflection of adjectives for number and gender, indefinite vs. definite articles, present tense regular conjugation, adjectives of description vs. adjectives of quantity and their respective placements, and pronouns. Of particular note today, I think he had a modest breakthrough in his understanding of how pronouns and conjugations work in Spanish as we were exploring conjugating verbs where plural pronouns have been replaced with combinations of singular pronouns. He seems to understand the idea behind most of the concepts he's learned so far. More exposure to and experience with the language will improve this. As his class moves forward in the near future, we'll probably mostly be focusing on expanding into a few new areas - irregular verbs, conjunctions, and sentence structure, and building a larger vocabulary."
"I did a review of all concepts we had covered in our previous meeting in August. We did a thorough conversation with general questions of what he has been doing over the few months. We did a review of greetings and useful phrases. WE went over the alphabet, vowels, and pronunciation. I dictated vocab and asked him to spell out words on the whiteboard. We went over nouns and articles plus their rules. He understood all concepts. We went over numbers and I started with possessive adjectives, plus the long possessive pronouns. He read a paragraph about this and then had to do 10 sentences and pick the appropriate possessive adjectives."
