"In this session, I decided to review the rules of placing accents in Spanish with the students. I believe it will be an invaluable skill in the future that will provide them good insight as to how Spanish is pronounced. I also covered other basics of phonetic, such as the difference between strong and weak vowels, and how words link between one another in everyday speech. Finally, we spent some time going over the use of the verbs ser and estar. I first provided them a basic idea as to how these verbs have different temporal connotations before diving into the textbook explanation. We did a joint practice of the use of these verbs in conjunction with pronunciation practice."
"The student has really gotten the hang of Spanish words such as hola, adios, and buenas noches and buenos dias. We have also learned our ABC's in Spanish as well as how to count from 1-10 in Spanish very well. He is very smart and learns so fast. I am looking forward to teaching him much more in our upcoming sessions."
"The student had a little math homework to finish up. We worked on finding the slope of a line based on two points on the graph. She did well with this homework. We then discussed her Spanish homework of writing answers to prompts given to her from the teacher. She was able to complete this work as well. She will need to study the answers more before going to class to recite them to her teacher, but she should have no problem with that. We then did our own practice of reading paragraphs in Spanish and answering questions based on the paragraph in Spanish. She did a great job with this. Her pronunciation is getting much better, and she is reading with much more ease than she did at the beginning of the year."
