Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over some more reading questions in the ACT and I believe the student is getting the hang of the reading section. I helped him learn some new tips to consider for the reading section and I think that these tips are going to help him in both accuracy and timing."
"Today was my first session working with the student. Upon arrival, she let me know that she'd like to focus on Algebra, as that is the topic she feels least prepared for. We went through her entire review packet during the session, covering all of her 1st-semester principles. She is well prepared and knows most of these principles, so I mostly just needed to provide a few different ways to remember definitions (e.g. Domain, Range) so that she can apply them to problems."
"We spent most of the session going through questions the student had about general chemistry concepts. In particular, we discussed special cases of the gas law, factors that affect kinetics, thermochemistry, stoichiometry, and acid and base dissociation constants. The student had a bunch of miscellaneous questions, and I think my answers helped clear up a lot of nuanced concepts for him. We also went over practice questions. Finally, we spent the last 20 minutes discussing his draft of his personal statement for his medical school application, and I gave him some suggestions regarding both tone and content."
"The student and I started reviewing her practice exam. We were able to cover the first few exercises on the exam and she had a good grasp on the material."
"In this session, the student and I went over rate laws and elementary step of reactions. This included half-life and other aspects of chemical kinetics. We then went over questions she had to prepare for her exam, along with a practice exam to prepare for her exam."
"The student and I reviewed the concept of adjusting entries. We took a look at several resources and examples related to this topic. I provided him with a general overview of the four general categories of adjustment (plus a fifth referring to depreciation), and also sent him several links as well. He reviewed a portion of a video, and I also showed him several examples and worked through a portion of a problem to highlight the main points related to adjustments and the connection between the trial and adjusted trial balances."
