"Student and his parents are unsure which direction to take in regards to SAT/ACT testing, so we went through some of the characteristics of both. I showed him the search app, which could help him narrow his options. I expect him to work with the materials I provided, and have a more defined plan next time."
"We finished the topic of evolution and diversity by covering the kingdoms animalia and viruses. We then moved into the organismal biology section and started covering the nervous system. The student was very prepared and knowledgeable, as usual! I would suggest he review the diversity and evolution section quite often, as it is very dense on material and requires a lot of memorization."
"Tonight, we covered writing (comma placement/usage, comparative vs. superlative adjectives, fewer vs. less, its vs. it's, your vs. you're, and subject-verb agreement), math (arithmetic/number theory), vocabulary (sentence completion), and reading topics. As always, the student had a wonderful attitude. She is enthusiastic and hard working. I am going to send her some ACT questions for extra practice. I think her biggest challenge was with the vocabulary questions. I think she could improve her SAT score quite a lot by expanding her vocabulary. We reviewed some strategies that we had previously learned, including eliminating answer choices one at a time (all categories) and writing a smaller-scale problem to find patterns that will enable you to solve a harder/bigger problem (math)."
