How can a tutor help you master the ACT?
Are you a high school student looking to pursue a degree program at a college or university? If so, you will more than likely need to submit your standardized tests scores as part of the admissions process. While there are two tests you can choose from, the ACT has been increasing in popularity over the last few years.
Preparing for standardized tests can be considered a skill in itself. While there are a variety of different study groups, textbooks, and computer programs designed to help you prepare for the ACT, these resources can miss the mark for many people. One reason that they might not be so effective is that they deliver the study material in a one-size-fits-all manner, which can be especially problematic when dealing with standardized tests. One way you can prepare for your ACT test while learning in a manner that best suits you is to hire a private ACT tutor.

This means that you can study in mornings, afternoons, evenings, and even on the weekend. Moreover, you can choose to study in an environment that is best suited for you. If you feel comfortable reviewing your material in your living room, no problem. You can also meet for sessions at your favorite coffee shop, library, or one of the numerous college campuses in the Atlanta area.
With ACT prep tutoring, your tutor will assess your current skill level, as well as your strengths and weaknesses, and use this information to design lesson plans that can specifically meet your individual needs. You can spend as much or as little time on a topic as you wish during your ACT prep tutoring sessions, and your ACT tutor can share valuable strategies and tips for approaching each section that can make a major difference on test day. This is one of the key advantages that makes studying with a tutor better than learning in class. As you work with your ACT tutor, you are able to control the pace of each lesson. Rather than try to complete an entire course outline in a semester, which is commonly the case in classroom sessions, your tutor's goal is to help you better understand the course content.
Taking the ACT can cause quite a bit of stress due to its vast importance in the college admissions process. Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
Progress Achieved: The student successfully completed an ACT Reading test with a score of 33. The student can now successfully complete many of the types of problems in the ACT Math section."
The student and I finished going over the science section we had started during our last session. She did very well, missing only 1 question in 4 passages. We also worked on one English passage for practice before reviewing the mini ACT she had taken. We then started working on a reading section from another practice test.
The student and I went over a reading section she had taken at school, going over the questions she had missed and discussing what the answers were and why. We then reviewed the mini ACT. She is still having some trouble with word problems, so we also worked on some of the math worksheets I had given her earlier. She has improved a great deal, and I believe that she is more than capable of earning her goal score of 24. I think that her greatest challenges is going to be setting aside her anxieties long enough to really demonstrate her potential."
