Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"After making sure that the student had successfully memorized the pronouns and verb conjugations, we covered common/useful expressions. We also looked at words for family and work relationships. We are moving at a pace that the student feels comfortable with. During every session so far, I have recorded myself speaking new words so that the student can listen to them in spare time. The student has expressed that this is very helpful."
"The student practiced conjugating regular and stem changing verbs. We reviewed reflexive verbs and he will practice those note cards. He will also practice this week on conjuguemos each day for at least ten minutes."
"I had the pleasure of teaching the student how to tell time today. We played another game of Spanish "Go Fish" where he practiced questions in Spanish as well as numbers. Next time I plan to mix up new and old vocabulary for the student. It's great to know that he is visiting Argentina in the spring: we can make goals of special phrases and words to learn before then!"
"The goal for this first meeting was to get a better idea of the student's level of proficiency and comfort with the Spanish language, and to establish end goals for our sessions together. We began with a general review of a few regular verbs (endings ar, er, ir) to identify the patterns of conjugation and also reviewed of some the most common irregular verbs (ir). We discussed the reflexive pronouns as well."
"The student aced his Spanish quiz last week and did his homework pretty well but often mispronounced things when I had him read aloud, sometimes to the point where the words he was saying were completely different from the words he was reading. I really think more practice, SLOWING DOWN, and remembering the vowel sounds will help. After that we worked a little bit on irregular verbs (especially ir, dar, and estar), but will have to finish the worksheet next time."
"The student and I reviewed the irregular preterite verb as well as direct and indirect object pronouns. We worked on learning a list of common Spanish verbs."
