Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student wrote his essay in 20 minutes. He's continuing to work on writing more slowly and with more detail. However, this was his best essay yet. He did very well on his vocab quiz. He still needs practice on sentence completion, but he understands key strategies. He is advancing in his ability to use algebra skills to solve word problems."
"During this session, the student and I reviewed the basics of geometry including lines and angles, area and volume, special triangles, and surface area."
"We reviewed her practice test from last week. She had a particularly difficult test, which challenged her to manage her time on the math section. She ended up guessing on some problems when her time had run out and making small arithmetic mistakes or missing the wording nuances of other problems, mostly on the Quantitative Reasoning section, which I feel is the hardest section due to its logic challenges. We worked on ways she can avoid making the mistakes she made this time, like watching out for certain clue words and paying closer attention to the structure of the greater than/less than section. We also reviewed difficult arithmetic concepts and looked at geometry, rates, conversions, and cube roots again. I assigned her some vocabulary homework to work on during the coming week. Her essay had great structure, personality, and grammar. We talked a little about including more description to make the essay feel more complex, and we'll work more on that before she takes the test. I'd like to help her focus on math and vocab. She did well on this challenging test."
